Our Story

The idea for this organization grew over many years in the life and work of our founder, Dr. Brandon Bivens, a hospitalist—a physician dedicated to caring for patients during their hospital stays. Throughout his career, Dr. Bivens witnessed countless patients who were not only battling medical illnesses, but also the powerful social and economic challenges that shaped their health.

Despite the efforts of exceptional teams—case managers, social workers, community programs, and government support—he saw that too many people still slipped through the cracks. Some patients were discharged into unstable environments, others struggled to afford medications or basic necessities. Their needs extended far beyond the hospital walls.

Dr. Bivens often stepped in to help where he could, but he quickly realized that these problems were too vast for one person to solve alone. Still, the desire to make a difference never left him. Then came a powerful realization: if people truly understood the struggles of those in need, they would want to help.

He believed, and still believes, that most people want to do good—they just need to trust that their generosity will truly make a difference. In a world where uncertainty and skepticism often cloud charitable giving, people hesitate to donate because they worry their contributions might not reach those who need them most.

That’s where this organization comes in.

Our mission is to restore confidence in compassion—to create a bridge between generous hearts and genuine need. We ensure that every donation reaches real people facing real hardship, and that every act of giving makes a tangible, meaningful impact.

Why We Exist

Matthew chapter 25 describes three closely related parables (stories with deep symbolic meaning): they are The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins; The Parable of the Talents; and the Parable of the Sheep and the Goats. The first two parables use mysterious symbols that can leave the reader puzzled. But the third parable gives a much clearer view that gives practical insight into what Jesus expects of His followers and what is at stake.

While the first two parables are important and relevant, our mission is most directly related to the Parable of the Sheep and the Goats. In this parable, Jesus separates those present into two groups, distinguished by their actions — or lack of action — in four critical areas: feeding the hungry and giving drink to the thirsty; clothing the naked; supporting those struggling with housing instability; and fellowshipping with the isolated.

These actions are powerful and necessary precisely because they are simple and illuminating. The Forty25 Initiative exists to restore basic dignity for our neighbors and to call believers into active involvement in the Gospel according to Jesus.
